Doncaster factory worker’s charity cycle to fund Christmas dinners for those in need

A generous Doncaster factory worker has cycled 90 miles to raise funds for Christmas dinners for disadvantaged locals.

Mark Crewe, who works at sterilisation technology firm Steris in Thorne, rode to the company’s Bradford site and back, alongside his wife Karen. Their charity trek raised over £400, which will be donated to Thorne and Moorends Town Council. The funds will help provide Christmas dinners for local children and the elderly.

Steris spokesperson Stephanie Higgs said: “We met with Thorne and Moorends councillor Susan Durrant to discuss funding needs. Steris is committed to supporting the council’s annual Christmas dinner for the elderly. We will continue fundraising throughout the year to support even more community events.”

Mark hopes this effort will inspire others in the community to get involved, ensuring no one is left behind during the festive season. The additional funds raised will also go towards other initiatives to support vulnerable families.
